If you're like me, a busy mom at home with her kids every day, your priority is ensuring the kids have everything they need between learning and playtime. While you meticulously plan each day to create the perfect experience for your children, remembering to focus on yourself can often be the real challenge, right?
I've certainly experienced that, but I think my innate playful spirit and desire for daily adventure help me maintain balance not just with my children, but also in my marriage.
The key is to go out on an official outing with your husband at least once a week. Also, if you put your kids to bed on time, then you can make almost every evening special to relax and date your husband it the comfort of your own home.
Here are 20 fun, easy and affordable date-night ideas to stay connected with your husband no matter how many kids you have!

Dinner- date with your husband at home.
Put the kids to bed on -time, and cook something different for just you two. Buy food that is out of the ordinary such as, lobster, oysters, or filet mignon and prepare it together to enjoy at the comfort of your own home. Don't forget to dress-up ;-)
Take Bubble baths together and bring your favourite drink to enjoy with you!
Give each other a massage with different oils to relax at the end of your day. One evening it's focused on you, and the next time it's your turn to give massage your man.
Board games & Sushi. Or whatever kind of food you enjoy. The board games my husband and I have enjoyed together are Sequence, Othello, Chess, and Scrabble...and are looking forward to discovering more!
At home Treasure hunt. We haven't played this one in a while, but leaving clues for your husband, and him for you, around the house to find a certain hidden treasure is fun-filled anticipation!
Shop together and surprise your husband with something at the end of that outing. My husband and I enjoy antiquing at flea markets, estate sales and thrift shops... each place is a new experience!
Couples massage. This can be expensive, but if you look for coupons and special deals, you will eventually find a steal of a deal!
A date-day picnic. Leave your kids at home with their older siblings, family member or trusted sitter. My husband and I love to go on date-days together and we most often start our date with a picnic at a beautiful park.
Flower gardens. Take a walk hand in hand through the beautiful botanical gardens near you, or any flower garden or arboretum. I love doing this as it's simply romantic..
don't forget to bring some bread to feed the ducks and geese along the way.
Couples Dance. My husband and I have enjoyed our many tango lessons in the past. Today we are enjoying our line-dancing lessons. We have completed a beginner level course and are looking forward to continuing. We plan to hit up the country clubs and put our learnt-moves to practice!
Biking & A Picnic. This is something my husband and I haven't done in many years due to being pregnant every year for the past 5 years, but it is a past-time favourite and something we used to enjoy doing very much.
The Question-Game. Ok, this game is not as interesting for us as we've played it too many times to count over the past two decades, but if you are at a newer stage in your marriage this is a fun game to play, accompanied by some delicious snacks!
Movie-night. This is not a new idea of course, but renting movies to watch at the comfort of your own home is always special.
Museums & Art Galleries. One of my husband and my favourite past-times...
Hikes & Nature trails. I prefer nature trails, so I can get off the track more easily than hiking up a mountain, but to each their own of course!
Audio-Books, Podcasts & Snacks. Get comfy and pick something to listen to with your husband and enjoy it together over one of your favourite snacks!
Mini Road-trips. If you don't have the luxury to go for a weekend getaway, once the kids are in bed, go for a long drive out and just talk with your husband. Stop at a grocery store to pick up your favourite snacks and enjoy! Getting out of the house even for an hour or two is great for a change of space while connecting with your husband.
Double -Date with your friends. Choose a couple to go out with once a month to enjoy uninterrupted adult-time. My husband and I also like to host dinners at home with friends once the kids are asleep.
Learn something new together! Whether it be working at home on a fun DIY project with your husband once the kids are asleep, or taking dance lessons online from Youtube, or whatever there are many fun and different things you can do at home.
Bowling. Play Pool. Canoeing, Drive-in movie theatre. Mini-golf. Karaoke. These are all affordable and fun outings to do with your man.
